do folks ordinarily use one in place of the touchpad? my son thinks it would be an improvement. he has a g4 ibook. thanks.

My laptop has bluetooth, and I got a bluetooth mouse. It's pretty cool, wireless and no dongle sticking out of the laptop.

Otherwise, you can also just get a wired mouse, if you only use it on your workplace. But, I definitely prefer a mouse over the touchpad.
