I have an HP Pavilion 9600, and within the past couple months the monitor display is distorting. The best way to descibe it is to say it looks as if the text has been smeared across the screen. I bought a new monitor and upgraded from Windows 98 to XP, but the problem persists. I checked for a BIOS update, but I apparently have the most up to date version. So -- anyone have an idea what could be causing the problem? Do I need to replace the video card? Or should I just plan on living with the distorted monitor image until I junk the PC? |

Sound slike the video card to me... or else, someone plopped a giant electromagnet on your roof. Go outside and see if one is there.... |

I'm already replacing the sound card, and installing a wireless card, so may as well put in a video card as well.
