Anyone out there get the new Tiveo version (7.0) with "tivo to go" yet? I signed up for the priority list, but still haven't gotten the update... |

What is Tivo to go? How do you tell what version you have? |

Tivo to go is where you can download programs from your tivo to your computer. You can watch them their, or you can burn them to a dvd. you can tell your version by going to messages and settings, then system info or something or other... |

So you have to hook the Tivo up to your computer, right? I'm not sure if we have Tivo to go; but we do have a recordable DVD hooked up through the Tivo. After we've Tivoed something we have the option to save it to a VCR or DVD. They have a newer unti I want to get but have to wait until May. It have the dual Tivo with a DVD recorder as one unit. Also, what is a 'priority list? |

WEll, you have to have the home media option, which allows you to basically play any music you have on your PC through your tivo (and tv), as well as your pictures, you can view them. So, if you have a home network, you utlitize it with your tivo. Also, if you had say, two tivos, you could transfer shows between them. Tivo to go is included in the next software version (v7.0) and is still in beta testing. So if you wanted to sign up and try it early, you signed something called the priority list, and when your tivo calls in for its daily call, the new software would be downloaded. |

Hi Rick I check the website for Tivo and it says something about having to have certain serial numbers. I don't have them so I can't get Tivo to go. |

I think that might be just for the trial version of 7.0 right? Do you have a series 2 tivo? You probably do if you bought a new tivo in the last 3 years. If it is older, it may be series 1. I think the initial rollout was only for certain serial numbers, but I think they will give it to pretty much everyone once the beta testing is done. |

from tivo.com: * The TiVoToGo feature is not available on DVD Recorder with TiVo boxes from Humax, Toshiba, and Pioneer. At this time Home Media features, including the TiVoToGo feature, are not compatible with DIRECTV® DVRs with TiVo®

We have two Tivos, both series 2. We got T2G on one machine and not the other. Didn't sign up for the priority list; it just showed up one day. I'd like it if you could transfer shows back to the Tivo (store 'em on the computer to free up space), but once they're on the computer, they can't go back to the Tivo. Also, the Tivo menu runs a lot slower with the 7.0 software. |

This looks like what MCE2005 is doing. The problem still seems to be that you have to have the cable/sat connection where the computer is. And for most of us, that ain't gonna happen. It's a cool alternative though. |

Yes I am using this. Combining a computer and television in a dorm room was a great help. Not to mention no commercials and recording for later watching. It's a FANTASTIC system. Plus all my dorm buddies can steal the shows they want through the high speed network. -Josh |
