Got 2 computers, relatively recent vintage. Desperately seeking for hire person to come and sort them out: Kid computer: Has clearly picked up umpteen spyware things or whatever. Could be she needs some memory, too. Parents' computer: Blue screen of death, etc. Both computers on wireless network thingy; Comcast cable modem. We are not savvy as regards this stuff, and for a bunch of reasons, do not want to attempt to sort out. Have any of you used anyone local who was trustworthy and reasonable? Get us back on a good path? I don't have a lot of money, but will find a way if there's a likely person to sort this out. Thanks much! |

To all who've written me on this: turned out the parental computer had a crashed drive and (after I waited forever on Dell's Tech Support line) they sent someone out with a new one. My husband managed the rest. On the kid computer: ended up buying a new one from Dell with all the anti-this's and that's and saving the kid computer for a later outing as some sort of household server (this recommended to me by friends at work). I greatly appreciate your e-mails and have learned some hard lessons here (like, keeping all your utility disks in one place, etc.) |

Still looking for that number, or recs for someone else who will come to home and deal with computer issues (we keep getting bumped off our internet account on main screen name and it appears to be a computer problem, not an AOL problem). Thanks. |
