(Cross-Posted with Please Help) Can one of you Mac-heads help out? My son's iPod mini battery failed, and Apple kindly replaced the whole iPod for free. But when we went to upload his iTunes account onto the new iPod, we found that more than half the files were corrupted on the iPod mini (they run fine on iTunes, by the way). We are running iTunes on a Dell PC. Took it back to the Genius Bar, and they said that the iPod was fine--they hooked it up to their own PC and it downloaded files perfectly. They recommended we upgrade to the new version 4.7 of iTunes. Upgraded tonight, and got the following error message: iPod Updater 2004-04-28 can't install firmware on connected iPod. The iPod's hardware and the Updater firmware are not compatible. Does anyone have any idea what we can do about this? I have a preteen who is withering on the vine without his beloved Music.

I don't have an iPod, but this guy seems to have figured out a similar problem: http://blog.mattgoyer.com/2004/01/13.html Also, I noted recently the iPod updater software was updated, so maybe look at that. |

Thanks Dave. That referral worked well so far. We uploaded the new updater and it seems to have solved the problem. |
