Considering building a web site, with 2 blogs built in (for ease of daily update). Husband has the web site building skills, and the ISP. Anyone familiar with cheap/free blogging apps that one could use in this context?

Don't want the advertising stuff that comes with the usual blogs. Thanks!

Also very easy to integrate Blogger (www.blogger.com) into your Web site. Very simple to use, looks great.

Slightly less sexy than MT, but the community around it (devs as well as those less geeky) is terrific with support and it's completely open source. Take a peek through the support forums and you'll see what I mean: http://support.wordpress.org

Or if he doesn't want to spend the time building the site, he can use existing free or cheap blog sites. I suppose he has rejected that idea. How come?

Well, design for one. I believe he wants a little more je ne sais quoi around it, with the blog/s imbedded as a feature, but not the whole thing. Also, no want no ads...
