I am looking for someone to direct me to where I could ask the following question, and perhaps get a response.

My old laptop is a piece of crap. The hole where you plug in the AC adapter has worn out. Used to be it worked when you held the plug down with an unabridged dictionary, but now it doens't work at all.

I know they sell external battery chargers for people who want to use two batteries, drain one, use the next one, charge it, etc. But thats like $100. What I'd like to know is if I could adapt my AC charger into an external battery charger... Cut off the AC jack, and rig it up to contact the battery in the right places?

Alternatively, is there a way to wire into where the battery plugs in, using the battery contact point as a replacement AC adapter hole?

Now what (nonMOL!) forum would i want to ask this question?

I'd try asking the same question here http://notebookforums.com/
