I just started my own message board, related to the industry I'm working in. Any of the techies here feel like giving some constructive critisism? The site is at: http://biometricsforums.com It's been a lot of fun putting it up, but now I need to get traffic there. What are your experiences with getting search engines to catalog you and give you a nice ranking. I see a lot of services out there that guarantee top 10 rankings for huge money. I'm doing this on a budget, so this is out of the question for me. |

Under the 'About Us' I would explain what Biomedics is. Another thought, I would center everything more then have it all lined up to the one side. But what do I know? I needed help with my site and it still needs a lot of work! LOL |

Search Engine Optimization is a dodgy business with a lot of highway robbery going on. Your best bet is to become relevant by an ongoing online PR effort. Find other online communities which have biometrics as a tangential interest and post links there. Place small text ads in industry journals. As more and more people link to you, your Google relevancy will churn higher. It's going to take months to see anything meaningful. Here's more from Google http://www.google.com/webmasters/seo.html |

Dave, thanks for the link. I have been looking for just this kind of info from google and couldn't find it on their site. (Maybe I should have 'searched' for it). This is great info. I figured that the 'pay for a rank' services were mostly scam operations. |

Thanks, Me2. Not only is it live, but somebody from your company signed up, too. That listserve post created a lot of traffic. |
