How do these things work? Can they be copied with animation intact? How are they made?

Humble thanks for enlightenment...

Animated gifs are really just regular gifs - that is, they can be copied emailed folded spindled and mutilated the same way a non-animated gif can. The files are a little bigger to hold the extra frame differences. Most applications, browsers, etc, know about the animation format and can display it. Applications that do not will simply display the first frame.

For a free, albeit clunky, tool to make an animated gif from a bunch of separate files, check out whirlgif:

I have fooled a around with these animated gif files for a little while now. Once you create or find one, changing it can be a little difficult. I actually found this site to help with some applications.
http://www.gifworks.com/
It allows you do do some limited editing online by upload the animation to the website.

I had forgotten all about gifworks, I've been using Graphic Converter, Quicktime, and Adobe ImageReady, for the most part.

Monster is your first image the SNL episode where Christopher Walken says, "I need more cowbell!"

Hysterical.

How's the computer working out? My son is on hotwheels.com all the time now.

It is, and I have the whole clip.

The iBook has made my wife, and daughter both happy, especially my daughter, she's getting into the whole email thing with her friends, she hasn't started the whole "instan messaging" thing yet.

that hotwheels site is addictive, me son wants to get on it every day still.

want more cowbell?
