Once in a while, I will see somone listed as the last poster in a thread, but when I go into it, there is no post by them (or they are no the last poster - nor in the last few posts). If I post, then delete the post, does the software still consider me the last poster?

It sometimes reports this way because it seems to cache the name list for a while, even after new stuff is added to some threads or sections.

Also, if someone posts to a sub-thread, a rarely used thing on MOL, that person appears to be the most recent poster to the top thread.

Tom, what I've run into is this. Let's say I post to this thread. Then I delete my post after it shows in the list. It still lists me as the last poster, even if my post is no longer in the list So it might say Woodstock as the last poster, but there is not post by Woodstock in the thread.

The message board is generated as static pages, so it's not drawing the content for the top page or other pages through database calls. When a new post is made, the static page is re-created with the new info about poster and time. However, if a post is deleted, the page isn't re-created to roll back to the previous poster's info. It's a bug, or a feature.

A friendly programmer recently pointed out to me that...

there's no such thing as a bug, only undocumented features!
