Unrelated to Maplewoodonline.com, which has no annoying pop-ups; Are there any settings within Netscape or Internet Explorer that would eliminate those annoying pop up windows that happen on so many websites? I went to NYPost.com yesterday to check some gossip thingie, and I was bombarded with three of them. There are some pop ups that you can't even close without two more cropping up. Of course those happen on 'dem nasty sites. |

Okay, sounds good to me. First off, what will I also be losing by disabling java script? Also, how the heck do you do that? I am running Netscape 6.2 browser. |

Disable Javascript and half the web won't work right, including probably parts of this site. I think you'll be unhappy with the results. In NS 6.2 do Edit-Preferences, select Advanced on the left. Uncheck "Enable Javascript for Navigator". You probably also want to uncheck "Enable Javascript for Mail & Newsgroups", although that has little to do with newsgroups. Do not uncheck "Enable Java". |

I use popupkiller. Quite a fine little tool. Just realize that it will kill links that you do want. A quick shift+click or control+click will override it. I recommend you set the audible alert so that you'll realize when it's stopping you doing something. http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10059-100-7834804.html |
