I have tried many, many times to "fill in" forms that I download off a website using Adobe Acrobat (free version.) Am I crazy - or do I really have to print it out and fill it in by hand each time? It's always boring stuff like insurance claim forms or rebates..I would love to fill it in using the computer and print it out completed. |

It depends how the form was generated. Most online forms are generated without the ability to fill them in (I guess it you need to read the manual to figure out how to do it right, which means it's hardly ever done right.) Surprisingly the IRS of all organizations has some of their forms done properly and you can fill them out before printing. |

Yes: the author of the PDF needs to create it with this capability. Also, there are systems that let you scan documents and it will detect where to put the form fields. Paperport, maybe? http://www.scansoft.com/paperport/ |
