I've had one IE crash too many, and I'm going to be using Netscape for a while.

However I have a rather large, complicated set of IE favorites, and I want to move them into Netscape. Anybody know of a q&d way to do this?

Thanks!

OK, now I'm remembering why I couldn't stick with netscape on earlier tries.

Is there ANY way to get Netscape to not give you that annoying box every time you go into a new MOL thread - the one asking you which userid you want to fill out the form with? (mine says, of course, "clkelley" and "clkelley" ... hmm, is that really a choice?)

Go to the password manager and delete one of those, so that there is no longer a choice.

But really, it sounds like you have an out-of-date browser. Mozilla Firefox is the cutting edge of the Netscape browser. Download it from http://www.mozilla.org

Also, the Opera browser just got better. I like it even more than Firefox. http://www.opera.com

I believe when you install both of these, it gives you an option of importing your IE bookmarks.

Opera kept pooping out on me (couldn't find the download file) so I figured I'd try Firefox for now. It did indeed give me the option to import my bookmarks. I'm up and running right now - should be an interesting adventure ...

And speaking of bookmarks, has anyone solved the problem of leaving your bookmarks on one computer and wanting them on another? I can't stand that. So I never bookmark things in my browser. I do it on a webpage I can access anywhere. The trouble is, it's not all that convenient to add to it, but that should be easy to fix, maybe with a wiki or blog.

My bookmarks are at http://whatexit.org/~tommy/bookmarks.html

Why not just type the links into a Word doc? Kind of overkill to make a web page.

Tom, you can also use something like my yahoo to save your bookmarks anywhere. I have a few saved that way. If you use the yahoo toolbar, you can get at your bookmarks on the toolbar if you're on your own computer.

fwiw I've been up and running with firefox for about 24 hrs now, and so far so good. It crashed fairly seriously early this morning though, and I had to re-start my computer - but seeing as how this was happening 5-6 times a day with IE that seems OK to me. (this happened during a post to MOL, which I couldn't be bothered to re-type.) It has some features that I really like, such as (found this out accidentally) if you double-click on a folder in your bookmarks you get a new window with lots of tabs, each one being one of your bookmarks inside that folder. Cool.

Tom,
If you are using firefox there is an extension called 'bookmark sychronizer' that will sychronize your bookmarks between computers on a ftp server. It sychronizes automatically everytime you start your browser.
