Hi. My iPOD just keeps pausing for no reason out of the blue. Does this happen to anyone else? It's a new 30g one.

Thanks.

Do you have it in a case that could possibly be rubbing against hte pause button? It's somewhat sensitive.

Barring that, you could have a wheel problem. Go to the Apple Store at Short Hills Mall. Yours sounds like it's still under warranty. If they find a problem, they'll replace it on the spot (provided they have your model in stock).

...but bring a newspaper or a good book to the Apple Store cuz you're like to be waiting a long time to see someone at the Genius Bar. You may be able to make an appointment online but I'm not sure.

Pretty sure only people with the "Pro" plan service plan (costs extra) can make appointments online.

Agree with Soulful: There's usually a wait of 1.5-2.5 hours. Put your name in before you do anything else at the mall.

Thanks Misters Burns and T. Seems I got my iPOD in Jan. I think I have a year to sort this out. Thing is - now I have to figure out how to get all of the songs on my iPOD back to iTUNES. I ran out of room on my cpu so I put all the tunes on the pod. Can I just drag the tunes from the iPOD back to iTUNES?

And you didn't call me, tsk-tsk-tsk
Do you have an external HD yet?
Let me know when, and I'll use one of mine to back up your music.
You might lose your playlists, but I think there is a way around that.

again, tsk-tsk-tsk

I'm actually chuckling over here

Did you try resetting the iPod?

Buzz

Why don't you burn your MP3s to CDs. It's an alternative to buying an external HD.

That's lots of CD's, but I know he has a DVD recorder, and a couple of those apps I mentioned will let him get the songs off of his iPod.

Buzz, I was just on ipodlounge which talks ad nauseum about how the new ipods have a problem that if the headphone jack rotates, it randomly pauses the ipod. This might be your problem. Apple knows about the problem, but I don't think it's fixable. Apple store might give you another device but that device will probably do it too. Read up more about it on ipodlounge.

Weeee, I just backed up several hundred songs from 2 different iPods, I stripped the DRM off of the ones purchased from iTunes Music Store (this brings them from being .m4p files to .m4a files), and while I was at it I converted the backed up songs to mp3 files for burning to a CD and playing in CD players that don't support .m4a files.

Backed it with iPod access, did the conversions with JHymn.
