Hi. My iPOD just keeps pausing for no reason out of the blue. Does this happen to anyone else? It's a new 30g one. Thanks. |

Do you have it in a case that could possibly be rubbing against hte pause button? It's somewhat sensitive. Barring that, you could have a wheel problem. Go to the Apple Store at Short Hills Mall. Yours sounds like it's still under warranty. If they find a problem, they'll replace it on the spot (provided they have your model in stock). |

...but bring a newspaper or a good book to the Apple Store cuz you're like to be waiting a long time to see someone at the Genius Bar. You may be able to make an appointment online but I'm not sure. |

Pretty sure only people with the "Pro" plan service plan (costs extra) can make appointments online. Agree with Soulful: There's usually a wait of 1.5-2.5 hours. Put your name in before you do anything else at the mall. |

Thanks Misters Burns and T. Seems I got my iPOD in Jan. I think I have a year to sort this out. Thing is - now I have to figure out how to get all of the songs on my iPOD back to iTUNES. I ran out of room on my cpu so I put all the tunes on the pod. Can I just drag the tunes from the iPOD back to iTUNES?

And you didn't call me, tsk-tsk-tsk Do you have an external HD yet? Let me know when, and I'll use one of mine to back up your music. You might lose your playlists, but I think there is a way around that. again, tsk-tsk-tsk I'm actually chuckling over here Did you try resetting the iPod? http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705 A couple of little apps you may find helpful, http://wbyoung.ambitiouslemon.com/senuti/ (free) http://www.thelittleappfactory.com/application.php?app=iPodRip ($15) http://www.drewfindley.com/findleydesigns/ipodaccess/index.html ($12.99) and you might find a few more here, http://www.versiontracker.com/php/search.php?mode=basic&action=search&str=ipod&p lt%5B%5D=macosx&x=0&y=0 Okay, the porn stars are off on HBO, guess it's time to go to bed, C-YA....

Buzz Why don't you burn your MP3s to CDs. It's an alternative to buying an external HD. |

That's lots of CD's, but I know he has a DVD recorder, and a couple of those apps I mentioned will let him get the songs off of his iPod. |

Buzz, I was just on ipodlounge which talks ad nauseum about how the new ipods have a problem that if the headphone jack rotates, it randomly pauses the ipod. This might be your problem. Apple knows about the problem, but I don't think it's fixable. Apple store might give you another device but that device will probably do it too. Read up more about it on ipodlounge. |

Weeee, I just backed up several hundred songs from 2 different iPods, I stripped the DRM off of the ones purchased from iTunes Music Store (this brings them from being .m4p files to .m4a files), and while I was at it I converted the backed up songs to mp3 files for burning to a CD and playing in CD players that don't support .m4a files. Backed it with iPod access, did the conversions with JHymn. http://www.ipodaccess.com/ http://hymn-project.org/jhymndoc/
