There is very little substance to that opinion piece. It left me feeling icky and dissatisfied.

If you love Microsoft and Apple, are you a bigamist?

It's not a particularly well written piece but there are legitimate reasons to love Microsoft. Excel is one of the all-time best software products and none of its competitors come close. Access is a terrific tool for building smaller databases with friendly interfaces. Most of their apps are very user-friendly even if sometimes that means a bit of bloat.

I've tried Linux too and unless you're a real techie, it's not very much fun at all.

The writer does make one good (if oft-repeated) point, that Microsoft software suffers the most attacks because it's the most widely used. Just like the Toyota Camry is such a popular car with thieves simply because there are so many of them being sold.

Many hackers just want recognition from their peers. I'd think that it would be a big deal for someone to write a virus that infects Macs just so they can say they did it. Kind of like stealing a Ferrari just for the thrill of it (if you want to use the car thief analogy.)

Can you imagine if a virus was written that infected ipods? That would be huge.

I only love Microsoft when the stock goes up.

The article misses the point of why many people don't like MS. It's not necessarily because of their products, but because of what is seen as efforts by MS to stifle competition and completely dominate the market.

It is sick to love Microsoft or Apple, quite frankly. They are companies in business to make money, plain and simple. Get over it, people.

If you're looking for love, look to Cisco Systems; they exist for the betterment of mankind and make the best communications hardware in the world. I love Cisco more than I love taffy... and I'm a man that loves his taffy.
