Does anyone have an 'invite' I can have? I had signed up a few months ago but didn't sign in for a while. Right before my computer bit the dust I got an email from Google telling me I should sign in. Since I no longer have that email, I can't remember what my user name or password was. I tried the lost my password feature but am having no luck. Figured I might as well just get another name. Thanks

Send me a private line with your e-mail address and I will gladly send you an invite.

I don't think gmail invites are required anymore.

They are still needed, but there are many web sites that distribute them. That how I got mine. Google for gmail invites and you will find some of those sites. You sign up and minutes later you will get an e-mail with an invite.

The following message just appeared on my google sidebar:

It's pretty exciting to see those words on the Gmail homepage. For the last 16 months, a lot of people have been asking us how they can sign up for Gmail, and today we're happy to be able to say, "Just go to gmail.com." From there, you can get an invitation code sent to your mobile phone, and with this code, you can create a Gmail account.

That's pretty weird. It means they have lowered the hurdle to sign up, but there's still a hurdle. Actually, it makes sense. I understand their desire to roll out the service gradually, but is that still necessary now?

The mobile phone requirement is actually brilliant because it means people can't stockpile Gmail addresses.

It also means you must have a mobile phone or know someone who does and will let you use the number to sign up...they probably don't want anyone without a mobile anyway...!

Be well, all.
