I was in the Apple store at Short Hills yesterday and played arround with a nano...the TV commercials really don't do them justice - unbelievable; tiny, light, reasonably powerful, but expensive ! How is it that hard drives are relatively inexpensive, Apple doesn't need new software for the nano (it's the same as the other iPods) but can still charge hundreds of dollars ?

Lazy,
One reason that it is so light is because it is a Flash drive which are more expensive.
The 2GB Nano costs apple about $100 between supplies and assembly, and then there is always marketing...
