I need to reinstall my operating system and I have been able to save my important files. However I can't figure out how to save the Itunes that I have downloaded to the computer. I know that I can burn them to a disc, but that's going to take a whole lotta discs. Is there a quicker and easier way. I tried to compress them with Win-Zip but it doesn't seem to work. Any help would be appreciated

Do you have an iPod? One suggestion would be to copy the itunes music folder directly to an iPod or external drive, & then copy it back to the reformatted drive. You should be able to mount an iPod just as you would any external hard drive. If you don't have one, maybe borrow one, copy and transfer the files and erase them from the borrowed drive?

Or alternatively, you could just do an "Archive & Install" of the OS over itself, thus preserving everything. Certain items will be moved to the "Previous System" folder, if you find that you need any of these files, just move them back.

Doesn't sound like he's using a Mac (Win-Zip reference).

If you have a lot of music and other big things that you'd want saved, I'd purchase an external hard drive and just keep it all there. There's less clutter on the system drive, and when that goes screwy and needs reformatting, you don't lose all your data. Plus it's an easy place to backup documents to (I'd still put docs on CD though).
