I just bought the new iPod (the one that plays video)...and it doesn't come with a standard charger (like the old iPods did). It charges through a USB port. Many times I travel without my laptop. Does anyone know if you can use the old iPod chargers with the new generation iPods? I couldn't find a direct answer online.

Yes you can. (as long as you had a dock ready iPod with the port on the bottom) |

Did you buy a 30 or a 60? Please post a review. Watch well, all. David |

I bought the 30. It was $299. I was planning on just buying a replacement of my former 40...but the new video ones just arrived, so I couldn't resist. If anyone cares, the "standard" ipods are being discounted by $50 right now. It's much thinner than the standard ipod. Screen is large and has a clear image. I downloaded a few videos last night to see how they looked...and they looked great. To be honest though, I doubt I will use the video feature much...but who knows. One other note...you can buy a dock with an S-Video output so you can watch videos stored on your ipod on a TV or projector. The verdict is still out on the battery life...it will be interesting to see how long it lasts for video usage vs. audio usage.

Cube: Dare I ask, what happened to the 40? BTW, did you buy a case? I find it is terribly important to buy a good case for ones' iPod so as not to quickly destroy it... Listen and watch well, all. David |

Sad story. I left it on an airplane seat on my way to Budapest. I'm not that bummed about it since the battery was shot and the screen was so hard to see (compared to my new one). I did not buy a case yet...the case (if you can call it that) that accompanies the new Video iPod is a joke...it's more like a felt sleeve. One thing I've noticed about the new iPod, is that when you skip to the next song, it's starts playing the song about 1/2 second before the song name pops up on the screen. I don't know why, but that bugs me. |
