Where do are people supposed to go to get help with google services? If you want to take a stab, my problems: 1. I use the portal page http://www.google.com/ig which lets me keep my bookmarks. I have a nice set of bookmarks, but in the past few days, I can't edit them. I submit my changes, and then they revert. The problem exists with IE, Firefox, and Opera. 2. gmail sometimes doesn't load when I use Opera. Sometimes I have to wait hours. I get the "Loading..." message in the web page (not the browser) but the browser thinks it's done loading. I can access gmail from IE or Firefox in the meantime, but I'm not happy.

hmmm... #1 is working fins for me. you are saving them after you add them I assume. 2. I have had that problem with some browsers... If the page doesn't load within 5 - 10 seconds I usually refresh and it will come up. Sometimes it doesn't and I use another browser and it works fine. I guess that's why it is still Beta. Send them over a message to let them know.

I can click reload 30 times a minute, and it doesn't help. Where do I send a message to google? That's my original question. Number one is solved. Stupid pilot error.

Just don't use Opera. I tried it now that it's free. Wanted to make sure that a website I'm working on is compatible with it. Turn's out it has so many bugs, just trash it and use firefox. |

No, I love Opera. I don't find it buggy. The problems it has are about how standards-compliant it is, whereas some web sites are not. It's a silly finger pointing game, and I don't defend Opera for that, but it doesn't affect me much. I don't mind switching browsers for a small list of sites, but gmail isn't one of them. I googled my gmail-opera problem and found a possible solution. Since my problem is intermittent, I won't know for a few days if it has fixed the problem. I got my kids hooked on Opera. Now the three of us refuse to use any other browser (except when necessary). The only reason my wife doesn't use it is because she's using an old Mac running OS 9, and Opera for that OS is very out of date. So is everything else, leaving Mozilla 1.2 or something as the browser that sucks the least for her.

I point my fingers at Opera. It has some serious rendering issues when using javascript. Just as an example. If you dynamically hide a <div> section, and it doesn't get overrided with something else, it won't go away until you force a redraw, say by minimizing and restoring the whole opera window. google maps and gmail use a lot of javascript and as standard compliant as opera might be on the HTML side, it's javascript implementation is unfortunatelly rather poor. |
