I just got a new computer and want to move files over to it from my old one. Anyone have a good program to reccomend? I'd prefer something that comes with the USB cable and is easy to use, meaning 'plug and play'.

Oh Tom,you there?

PC or Mac?

What version of the OS on the old and new computer?
e.g. Win98 to WinXP?

If you just want to move microsoft files (including outlook mail, office documents, etc.)
There is a 'Files and settings transfer wizard' under 'Programs'-'Accessories'-'System Tools'
that does the trick. It uses either discs, or if you have a network, it uses that.
If you don't have a network, and both computers have firewire connections, then it's easy to just get a firewire cable and set up a firewire (IEEE 1394) network.
Otherwise, there are plenty of packages that do what you need (LapLink comes to mind), however I don't have any experince with them. If in a rush I would go to CompUSA and see what they have on the shelf.

How many files (in GB) are we talking about?

There are a variety of options, frankly. If you like, PM me with a phone number and we can discuss it briefly.
