I've been trying to figure out how to transfer music onto one of those mini Apple Ipod Shuffles my nephew got with no luck. First the thing wouldn't fit into the USB port on my sister's computer, so I had to set it up on mine. I'm was able to add the software onto my computer and to charge the Ipod on my computer, but can not figure out how to only add the songs he wants to a play list, nor how to transfer the list to the Ipod. His brother has had the same Ipod since the summer, but another niece put the music on for him and she's in Florida. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Download iTunes to the computer. The newest version can be downloaded from the Apple site. After it's installed, run iTunes. After that is done. Connect the ipod to the computer, and it will show up on the left hand side of the iTunes near the top (usually below the Library) and above any playlists you may have created for yourself. I personally like to manange my own songs on my iPod (instead of having it autosync to a playlist) so click on the ipod on the list and down at the bottom right of the itunes screen will be an icon to let you specify the preferences for your ipod. Turn Off the autosynch option. Now you can just drag songs (or playlists) to your ipod and it will copy the songs to the device. When you are done, make sure that you eject the ipod from within itunes. |

Alley- I can't even get past getting songs into iTunes from a cd. When I tried to drag a song to iTunes it took 5 minutes to transfer, then when I tried to play the song it wouln't play... I feel bad for my nephew because he's been asking my sister to help him for the past few days. He cornered me Friday morning to help him, when I have no clue what I'm doing. I told him I'd try to help him after school, but my sister didn't bring him home until shortly before I was to leave for a theater group I help. When I got home I spent most of the night trying to figure it out. Don't think I got to sleep before 5am! I still can't figure it out. He was funny because he said I should ask someone from Maplewoodonline for help! (so I did) When I told my sister last night I gave up she had the nerve to call me a FA! Boy was I mad! Told her to do it herself then... My nephew just woke me up in tears; so I guess I'll be trying some more. <sigh> |

You should make playlists in iTunes, and only include those songs you want in the playlists. Then, in iTunes preferences, select manually manage songs and playlists. Make sense? |

JTA: Mac or dark side? I think you have a PC in which case I'd be pretty in the dark. Try the specific procedures above--the iTunes just imports any cd onto the hard drive when you click import using a Mac. Be well and happy T-Day...! David |
