How do I uninstall a program on my computer? I want to uninstall Norton because it is blocking all my email. Can't get anything.

I assume you're talking about Windows. You can remove most Windows programs by going to Control Panel and then "Add/Remove Programs".

If not, go into the "Program Group" for the program and see if there's an uninstall facility. To find the program group, it's Start->All Programs->Whatever.

If those two methods fail, insert the CD for the program you want to remove.

You probably don't want to uninstall it, unless you have another virus program ready to replace it with.

What version of Norton do you have?

PS - if you really, really, really want to uninstall the program (I advise against it very strongly), you click Start, Control Panel, (if required click "show classic view"), then "Add/Remove Programs".

Alternatively, does anyone have a telephone number of Symantec? Couldn't find one on their website.

Again, what version of Norton do you have? Tell me that and I'll post instructions.

If you call Symantec I believe they are going to make you pay for the service (I may be incorrect).

Get a free AV system, and ditch Norton. There are a few that are rated at least as high as the big guys, and don't crush your system under the weight of their resource requirements. They scan email, and have both real time protection, and the ability to schedule scans. Why pay year after year for mediocre software?

Several were listed in another thread recently.

Okay, here's what I did. Norton was causing me such a headache because it never let anything through. I uninstalled it. Then I installed McAfee antiviral and firewall software that I get free from Comcast. My email is working like a dream now. I just hope that the software really works. Thanks for all your help!

McAfee is great, its going to work just fine.

Don't forget to run Spybot and AdAware once in awhile!
