I just got the new Springsteen Bortn To Run DVD and it's awesome. I want to convert the audio to mp3 so I can listen to it on my (non Video) iPod. Any ideas? |

It's not that difficult if you have patience and the right connections .... pun intended. You should be able to rip a digital (MP3) version of your DVD music by following these steps: - download polderbits sound editor recorder - here: http://www.polderbits.com/ - get one of these interfaces (or something similar) http://www.rolandus.com/products/details.asp?CatID=12&SubCatID=51&ProdID=UA-1EX .... - connect this to your DVD "audio out" with a set of RCA cables (the red/white ones) - connect this same box to your PC's USB port - follow the polderbit instructions for recording from a source and bit rate. It should work ... Ive used a similar set up to RIP my vinyl and cassette recordings. |

The audio on DVD discs is in MP3 format, I never had the need to only extract the audio, but it shouldn't be all that hard. google this: 'DVD audio to mp3 mac' and the first hit seems to be what you are looking for. |

JonSel, You could also simply download an audio copy of a show from another night of that London stand here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=65755 |

Just curious for anyone that knows... is there a difference between DVD-A and the audio tracks on a video DVD? |

Yes, DVD-A uses much more bandwith and is therefore the better of the two. |

Yes, if you want to pay for it, or Audio Hijack for a little less, http://rogueamoeba.com/ Or Wiretap, http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/ Keep in mind that these recordings must be done in real time, where as when you use Yade X as I mentioned above, you don't have to play the files, just rip em' lickety split. Another A/V tool that may be of interest to some is ffmpegX, http://homepage.mac.com/major4/index.html
Quote: ffmpegX is a Mac OS X GUI to ffmpeg the "hyper fast video and audio encoder" (http://ffmpeg.sourceforge.net/). This GUI provides quick encoding to DivX, XviD, AVC/h.264, VCD, SVCD, CVD, DVD, 3GP, DV, MP4, MP4 for iPod, MP4 for Sony PSP, MOV, mp2, mp3, AAC & AC3. MPEG-2 encoding relies on mpeg2enc component from the mjpegtools package (http://mjpeg.sourceforge.net/MacOS/). DivX and XviD encoding and subtitles support relies on external mencoder component from http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayerosx/. Includes bitrate calculators, a mpeg and DivX splitter for multiple CD burning, and other mpeg tools, including svcd to dvd converter and dvd to 4GB dvd compressor. Includes support for VOB subtitles encoding, DVD selectable subtitles, as well as SubRip, MicroDVD, SubRip, SubViewer, Sami, VPlayer, RT, SSA, AQTitle, JACOsub and MPsubt subtitles. When encoding to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 it can author the video as VCD or XVCD (.bin/.cue files for burning with Toast by dropping the .bin into VCD window) or as SVCD, CVD or K/XSVCD (two .img files to be burned in Toast under Multitrack XA window), or as DVD (/DVD/ folder to be burned in Toast DVD mode and .img file in UDF format for burning in Disk Image app or Toast disk image mode).
