I know that there is a procedure to do this, but I can't recall what it is and I'm trying to help a friend remotely (so I don't have a problem on my own computer to verify the sequence of events that she needs to follow.) She is seeing an old version of a webpage and can't seem to get the new one to display. (But I see the new one when I look.) |

Pull down Tools->Internet Options. You get a pop-up. In the "General" tab, there are buttons for "Delete Cookies", "Delete Files" and "Clear History".

For something a little easier (and flexible), try the following: http://www.stevengould.org/software/cleanup/

Do you really have to clear out the history and cookies in order to refresh the cache? I always hate doing that because then I have to re-enter a lot of stuff. I thought that there was some particular file somewhere or something like that that you could delete to get the desired result (?) |

I gave you more information than you needed. Sorry. Hit the "Delete Files" button and remember the other buttons for when you need them. I can't remember the folder where IE keeps these files, but this button ought to do it for you. And tell your friend to download Opera or Firefox or both!

Press Alt+F5 while on the page that is not refreshing. This will ignore the cache and reload everything on that page. |

Tom, I believe those files are in the local settings hidden folder. C:\Documents and Settings\**YourUserName**\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files This is at least where you find the most porn when fixing someones computer. |

Also, click the following: - Tools - Internet Options - Advanced (scroll all the way down) - Place a check mark in the box for "Empty Temporary Internet Files when browser is closed" Upon closing Internet Explorer, this will clear all temporary files that were downloaded during that browsing session. It does not clear cookies. The first time you do this, it will take a minute or two to clear all the temporary files that have accumulated since you started using IE. It may also save you some hard disk space. |

Hi guys, That "cleanup" program can be cusomized to ignore things you'd like to keep (i.e. cookies from 'safe' websites, etc). Its really worth a look. |
