Have you heard that the spaghetti god creator has been given an $80,000 advance to write the bible of Pastafarianism?

I think my noodly appendage may just need to be chronicled on notebook paper and finely drawn with a #2 Ticonderoga pencil.

So yesterday I found out that a recent acquaintance of mine is on tour with "Nena", which of course made me think of "99 Luftballons", which came out & was a big hit while I was living in Germany.
I loved Nena, all day yesterday I couldn't get that song out of my head, I went to bed with it floating around inside my skull.

I hadn't thought of the song all day today, & then I get to work & what do you think I see in the hallway, that's right fscking red ballons, now I have the song going over & over & over up there, and it's not the english version, oh no, its the Germany version, as it should be of course.

So since I'm setting here in front of a computer, I decide to look up Nena's homepage on the net (I mean, she has to have one right?), I'm all ready to go look for her album that came out this year.
I'm looking around on the site, translated via Google (my German language skills are just about gone), when I start looking at pictures of the tours, first picture I see is a picture of Nena and one of the guys with her is the guy who just moved into the neighborhood, cool.
As it turns out she has a thriving career, and a new double album that came out earlier this year, I think I'll have to go find it, "Willst Du Mit Mir Gehn", this is a follow up to her 2002 20th anniversary album "Nena Feat.Nena", which is comprised of new versions of her hits. This album launched her into the spotlight once again.

Oh yeah, she's still hot....

Long Live Nena!

99 Luftballons

Hast du etwas Zeit für mich
Dann singe ich ein Lied für dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Denkst du vielleicht g'rad an mich
Singe ich ein Lied für dich
Von 99 Luftballons
Und das sowas von sowas kommt

99 Luftballons
Auf ihrem Weg zum Horizont
Hielt man für Ufos aus dem All
Darum schickte ein General
'Ne Fliegerstaffel hinterher
Alarm zu geben wenn's so wär
Dabei war'n dort am Horizont
Nur 99 Luftballons

99 Düsenflieger
Jeder war ein grosser Krieger
Hielten sich für Captain Kirk
Das gab ein grosses Feuerwerk
Die Nachbarn haben nichts gerafft
Und fühlten sich gleich angemacht
Dabei schoss man am Horizont
Auf 99 Luftballons

99 Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich für schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Man wer hätte das gedacht
Das es einmal so weit kommt
Wegen 99 Luftballons

Wegen 99 Luftballons

99 Luftballons

99 Jahre Krieg
Liessen keinen Platz für Sieger
Kriegsminister gibt's nicht mehr
Und auch keine Düsenflieger
Heute zieh ich meine Runden
Seh' die Welt in Trümmern liegen
Hab' 'nen Luftballon gefunden
Denk' an dich und lass' ihn fliegen

American Version,

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got
Set them free at the break of dawn
'till one by one they were gone
Back at base, sparks in the software
Flash the message "something's out there"
Floating in the summer sky
Ninety nine red balloons go by

Ninety nine red balloons
Floating in the summer sky
Panic bells, it's red alert
There's something here from somewhere else
The war machine springs to life
Opens up one eager eye
And focusing it on the sky
The ninety nine red balloons go by

Ninety nine decisions treat
Ninety nine ministers meet
To worry, worry, super scurry
Call the troops out in a hurry
This is what we've waited for
This is it boys, this is war
The President is on the line
As Ninety nine red balloons go by

Ninety nine knights of the air
Ride super high-tech jet fighters
Everyone's a super hero
Everyone's a Captain Kirk
With orders to identify
To clarify and classify
Scramble in the summer sky
Ninety nine red balloons go by

As ninety nine red balloons go by

Ninety nine dreams I have had
In every one a red balloon
It's all over and I'm standing pretty
In this dust that was a city
If i could find a souvenir
Just to prove the world was here
And here is a red balloon
I think of you and let it go

Senior Moment

There was a commercial on tv a moment ago, the one about the space saver bag, just hoock a vacuum hose to it and suck the air out....

Monster wife says, "how does it do that?"
Monster says, "They suck!"
Monster wife says, "How do you get a vacuum
to suck the air out?"
Monster says, They SUCK!, vacuums suck!
Monster wife starts laughing and says, "oh yeah".
Insert laughter....

Back in December while being nostalgic for holidays past I made a post in the virtual cafe about Krampus and the holiday tradition of putting ones shoes out for Nikolaustag.
I thought the post should probably have been made here instead, and since I've been collecting images of old Krampus postcards, I've made a webpage of them for others to enjoy.
Below you will find the link to the webpage, and I have also quoted my original post.

Reminiscing about childhood holiday memories today, I started thinking about how as a child in Germany, my sisters and I used to put our shoes outside our doors waiting to be filled by St. Nicklaus and his sidekick Krampus, we did this on the eve of Nikolaustag, or on the 5th of December.
Sometimes Krampus/Knecht Ruprecht is the good guy bringing gifts, equal to or replacing St. Nicholas. 1555 is the earliest recorded events of St. Nicholas bringing gifts, but this "gift giving" occured on December 6th, which was the only "Christmas" gift giving in the middle ages. Back then Knecht Ruprecht, Krampus, was a much more ominous figure than he is today.

Traditionally our shoes were filled with switches and coal if the we had been bad, and candies, small gifts, and coins if good.
My shoes always had switches and coal in them, along with candies.

Nikolaus and Krampus don't always make a personal appearance now-days, but in some places children still leave their shoes by the window or the door on the night of Dec. 5. In the morning (Dec. 6) they awake to discover small gifts and goodies stuffed into their shoes, left by St. Nicholas & Krampus. This is similar to the American Santa Claus custom, although the dates are different.

Quote:

Gruss vom Krampus!

The Krampus enjoys many different leisure activities. One of his favorite ways to relax is by tormenting and dominating "naughty" people, mostly children. First, he befriends them in order to gain their trust...
Then, he beats them with switches,...
...carries them off to his lair,...
...and, if the children are especially naughty, banishes them to a much "warmer" place.
Krampus also enjoys associating with members of the opposite sex...
..but sometimes his relationships take a turn for the worse.
He also has a passion for sports,...
..higher education,...
...motor vehicles,...
...music,...
...and just plain old mischief.
Occasionally, the Krampus will be seen consorting with "shady" characters...
In order to further his evil agendum while subsequently accumulating large sums of cash from illegal dealings.
Hmmm...sounds a lot like a certain political group currently in charge of American governmental affairs.
In early December, during the ritual of Krampusnacht, people all over the world celebrate the great Krampus in hopes that, after the rapture, he will return to Earth and execute all foolish nonbelievers (after all, "Krampus" kind of sounds like "Christ" right?). In the meantime, many choose to dress up like the Krampus in order to show their absolute loyalty.
It is only a matter of time before Krampus takes over the world, and krampus.com will be there to help him dominate the weak and paltry human race. Join the movement now before it is too late!

Hail Krampus!
