Hi Everyone! I arrived here in the Galapagos yesterday. Weather is great - thought I would post a few pics and blurbs.

Here's a local sea lion:
Sea Lion
Sea Lions here are about as plentiful as Squirrels are at home. At any time you can go to the water's edge and view dozens lying around. And when you are in the water, they are extremely playful. My first day I witnessed kids on boogie boards riding waves in right alongside the Sea Lions.

Today I did some snorkeling which took a bit of getting used to. My first time snorkeling was next to this giant rock formation called Kicker Rock. I have my camera in a aqua case - but it took enough effort to learn snorkeling. So, underwater photography is not my forte yet.
Kicker Rock

Here's a blue footed boobie with young. One of the birds that the Galapagos is most well known for:
Boobie

So I went back snorkeling in another section - here's a sea lion playing nearby me. One thing this guy liked to do was to swim right up to my face - then swim away - then underneath and all around me.
Sea lion underwater

That's all for now - I'm a bit tired from sea kayaking.

So not only did Darwin study evolution of the species, he also was a pioneer of the evolution of communication. Amazing.

Hey - Just a quick hello I don´t have my laptop - so no more pics today.

The weather article posted above had no effect on the islands. It´s been overcast - only rain in the higher elevations. Boating between a couple of the islands today was a bit rough, in fact the Gilligan´s Island theme song kept going through my head.

I did a bit more kayaking today - I like it, but prefer to kayak in rivers where you have a current in your favor.

Also snorkelled by Santa Fe, I left the camera behind to focus on my snorkeling skills - I´m getting the hand of it. Swam amongst thousands of fish, a few sharks and sea lions too.

Tomorrow I´m up early to visit Darwin´s Station, then off to mountain bike in the highlands. Hope to post more tomorrow.

Sounds perfect - seaside, redolent with sea life and beautiful vistas, snorkeling is the best! Ocean kayaks are much different than river kayaks (obviously) so make sure you're using the correct paddle, etc. Post pictures and do stand-up for the natives. If you need an assistant Galapogos tour director, please let me know ASAP.
