Things are starting return to normal now that the weather has eased a bit. Our plumber called to tell us he would be able to begin those repairs soon and there was a confusing message from our insurance adjuster about the pros and cons of working with our insurance company vs the insurance company of the driver of the vehicle.

Pizzaz: Absolutely! However, I would never wish you the aggravation which lead to the need for those wishes. |

Thanks and I know the entire episode must have been distressing to you and your family. Hopefully, it will fade from your concern shortly. |

The cat on my lap wasn't too happy with me when I got home last night and believe me when I tell you it is not pleasant being around that cat when he isn't happy. He had read on the message board that the evening would feature a surprise guest, who wasn't necessarily human. Since the cat on my lap is very self-centered, he naturally assumed that HE was to be the special guest and spent much of yesterday primping for big party. Now he would finally get to meet all of his favorite posters. He could hardly wait. As the day began to shift into nightfall and the rain began to shift into a wind-blown waterfall, the cat sat on the window sill and said a silent prayer that his big debut as secret guest celebrity at the biggest MOL face to face ever wouldn't be a wash out. When my husband and I were at the door leaving for the big event, there was the cat sitting politely with his best me too smile plastered on his face. You could see the tears almost start to form is in his tightly controlled eyes as we walked out the door -- without him. He told me later that he had sat at the window for hours waiting for the Fairy-G-d-Mother-Cat to come in a dog-drawn (everyone knows what good swimmers dogs are) whale-shaped coach and take him to the party. Alas it wasn't to be. This morning, he kept nagging me with questions: 1. Who was the special guest celebrity? Was it that upstart cat of Emmie's who snuck out to the cat groomers while everyone was looking for him so he could could put his best paw forward while receiving a standing ovation? 2. How many people asked for him? He found the actual answer: 6 to be reassuring until he realized that at least ten times that number of people had been present. 3. Which of his personal favorite posters were there and what did I mean that I couldn't tell him because everyone had decided to wear labels with their real names and his favorite posters mostly use aliases? Still he wanted me to thank everyone who came last night and comes this afternoon for supporting his favorite cause of the moment -- free speech on MOL and throughout the internet. |

The cat on my lap loves sloppy Joes. Now he is really upset that he didn't get to go to the MOL get together. |

Joan - Evidently I haven't read your blog in a few months...I had no idea about the terrible assault on your house! I'm so sorry. Can I infer from the return of focus to the cat on your lap that the dust has settled? Debby BTW - what do you mean most of his personal favorite posters use aliases?! |

Debby: The shock has worn off but much of the damage still has to be repaired. Fortunately, our insurance company is one of the good ones. The cat, who is sitting on my lap right now and seeing so much hurt in your question, wants me to tell you that he does not consider posters who use just their initials or first names to be real name posters. He hopes this clarifies matters for you. He also wants me to tell you how sorry he was that you didn't pass the Jeopardy audition your first time out and notes that he didn't pass his keyboard typing test the first time out either. |

He did qualify in the second round pick for the most ferocious of felines in the Chyzowych Cougar tournament. Joan, it was a pleasure to meet you the other night. I like your husband. You two need to be out more often and visit once in a while. Thanks for attending, I think good things happen to those who strive for the benefit of others. I also think Dave and Jamie had a good turnout from the attendance of Molers from both communities. I got to see Librarylady and Soda, can you believe it? See ya, soon. |

Pizzaz: It was a pleasure meeting you and Leslie as well. Thank you both for hosting what turned out to be the most fabulous face to face of all MOL time. |

The decapitated shrubs were removed today. Looking at the empty ground is sad but looking at the destruction which was rendered to all those living plants I had tended for so many years was so much worse. At least now we can look forward to planting a new. Also, the roofer called today to say he would be over in a few days to discuss not only repairs to the down spout but to the brick work as well. What angers me most about all this is that the people responsible for all this damage haven't even seen fit to make an apology. |

No, but the town did. Damage was done to one of the town trees, the stop sign and the street sign at our corner as well as our property and that of two of our neighbors. In addition, thanks to the investigative skills of one of our neighbors, our insurance company has been in touch with their insurance company. |

I think it wouldn't be a bit out of place to ask for an apology. |

Tom: I don't either but I don't know the owner of the vehicle personally, nor do I know for certain who was driving. Even though I know where they live, I would be very reluctant to walk over to their house and ring their doorbell; nor, would I feel comforatble arranging an introduction through mutual friends. If the owner and/or driver of the car is reading this blog, I hope he will be gracious enough to make the effort to extend an apology in person. He certainly knows where we live now even if he didn't know before this happened. |

The cat on my lap has been following the "cat transport" thread with much interest and would like to offer the following suggestions within the comfort of "his own" blog. 1. As is true of most cats he knows, the cat on my lap likes it fine just where he is thank you. He may want to go out OUTSIDE when a door is left conveniently open but he wants to do it under his own power and it absolutely has to be his own idea. Cats need to be convinced that THEY want to go on that trip. It absolutely must be THEIR idea. 2. The cat on my lap thinks that most cats really want to know what is in it for them to take this "mystery trip". Car rides are fun especially if the cat can be afforded a window seat and the ability to look out at the scenery. The cat on my lap much prefers looking out the window to playing video games or watching the latest DVD. Bribes, including a soft blanket at the bottom of the carrier and a favorite toy or two are always welcome. 3. The cat on my lap is much more likely to want to go on a trip if the rest of his family is going too. In fact, the cat on my lap has been known to climb quite willingly into a half packed suitcase when nobody is looking and then MEOW quite indignantly when the remaining garments are unceremonially dumped on top of him. He has now come to accept that it is far more comfortable for him to travel in his own suitcase, especially if he doesn't have to be the one to carry it. |
