This is my very first ever blog. I have time to post it because my son fell asleep early tonight, and my husband is at work all day. Both of these things are unusual! My son is 1 1/2 years old. He really, really loves trains. Once I was in Home Depot with him and I noticed all the chains on spools in different sizes. I said to him, "Look at all the chains!" and he replied, "Choo choo!" Whenever we go over the hill on South Orange Avenue, he always points out the train station. Sometimes he points at overpasses when we're in the car. He is a funny kid. I guess he's not so different from his dad, who loves music and skateboarding, and not so different from me. What do I love? I definitely love knitting, and creating new things. I used to follow other people's designs slavishly, but I grew tired of that and made up my own. Right now I'm knitting sleek little arm warmers, the kind that attaches with a loop on your middle finger. I also love organizing, but today I had an especially difficult job. I usually dress professionally when I go to a job, and today my nice clothes were completely dirtied. I also smelled like mildew after three hours of work. Fortunately my husband took me out to dinner anyway!! We sat far away from the other patrons! That's all for today. Goodnight, world. |

Kari, I'm a knitter too and never (ok rarely) follow a pattern. I think I love knitting more than anything other than my family. Right now I'm knitting up a sweater in very heavy Lopi-type wool (Lamb's Pride Bulky) in a riot of fall colors - two oranges, two reds, a gold, a purple, two browns, two greens - you'll certainly be able to pick me out of a crowd when I wear it! It's done in two-handed two-color (ala Shetland) so it will be really warm - definitely outerwear. I put a shawl collar on it and seed stitch instead of ribbing. Post a pic of your arm-warmers - I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like that. I rarely knit anything "sleek" (bulky, cables, textured is more my thing) but I'm curious to see what they are.
