I am not sure why I was shocked that Paul Westerberg seemed so drunk. Wasn't sure if he was really that faced or if he was doing the Dean Martin cola in the tumbler thing. If he was for real I have never seen someone so drunk on stage. And I saw the Replacements back when.
I just figured this out: Monday is a drunken friend that won't leave. Tuesday is an old uncle that talks about his trip and falls asleep. Wednesday is your birthday on a Friday. Thursday is a quiet sunrise. Friday is a kiss from a stranger. Saturday is a trusted embrace. Sunday is forgetting that it's Sunday. I'm not sure if it's all true. If it is you heard it here first. I'm in love. With that song. |

Buzz, I did a show with the replacements in Lincoln Neb. and while we were onstage, they came and trashed our dressing roon. But it was funny, because they did it "gently", over turning things so we'd know they were there, but not really damaging anything. They then went onstage and blew up their gear and then came and asked us if they could use ours....um...no. |

I just decided that Wednesday is waking up and realizing it's not Tuesday. Musicme - did you tour with them or was this a one off? More stories! I am facinated with Paul W now. I think he is an amazing songwriter - but not sure the live act is helped by superbooze. Maybe it's like listening to "the piano has been drinking" and saying "do you think it was really the piano that was drinking...." I must say that this was the first "rock show" I didn't have a few beers at - I had to get up early today. Maybe I should have had a few. It's like that really bad joke.....what did the deadhead/phishhead say when they stopped smoking pot? this music sucks....haw haw haw haw haw. Though I remember seeing neil young with just an acoustic and totally blowing away what was once the garden state art center. FAVORITE GUINESS: beer |

The Studio owner was called by the manager and was told to get down to the studio right away. When he asked why he was told that the Replacements were so drunk that they were vomiting into their hands and throwing it onto the studio walls, laughing hysterically. It was a one off. |

I often have to lie about my earliest memory. This is due to the fact that no one believes my actual earliest memory. My real first memory is having some cream put on this black thing that was on my bellybutton. When we had our first child I found out that the black thing was the umbilical cord. This blew my mind. I told everyone I knew about my earliest memory. Most people said "no way come on you're making that up". Trust me I am not. I had to fight to get into this world. I was given three days to live. I was 2 months premature and at the time I was born this was a really big deal. I can't imagine what my parents were going through in those three days. Now I just say my earliest memory is looking at a very small purple birthmark on my left hand. It's my second memory. I have a feeling that an i.v. was there when I was small. I don't remember that - but do remember always looking at that purple mark. I know. Why are your early memories coming up in conversation so many times? I don't know. Not sure. I guess it is better than talking about government/weather. My son said I was his best friend and said he loved me out of the blue. I got a big apple in my throat. Just like when I listen to leader of the band by that dan fogelberg.

Buzz- I apologize for not visiting your blog sooner. I love it. The random/cohesive wanderings of your mind. I've just taken a mental vacation, floating along on all of the photos. For some reason, Musicme's skulls skeeve me, but not in the usual "ew- it's skulls" way. That stuff doesn't tend to disturb me. For some reason, it evoked the pile of shoes in the Holocaust Museum in DC. You can see the souls. My earliest memory is looking up the hill in our yard, past the neighbors fence, seeing sky and clouds and knowing what forever looked like. I was always afraid to walk up to the fence, look over and know for sure. I realize now that it was a typical suburban neighborhood and I wouldn't have seen anything more than the neighbors' driveway. The mind of a 4 year old... Thanks for one more thing to distract me from my workday. |

Greentree - I like your blog too. You have a great sense of humor and a fine family it seems. I am always happy to distract anyone from the grinding pace of the workday. I like your memory. Reminds me of looking up at the clouds when I was about five. Thinking about the clouds. Realizing that the clouds are really far away and can look like anything that is on my mind. |

Green, those skulls are from those wacky French people in Paris. We think we've got a shortage of real estate? They dug up the graveyards so they could put up another building. Moved all the remains into the catacombs, clearly labeled for future visits. oh, there's aunt Bess and the nephews. There's like a mile of these to wander through- all neatly stacked. It's like a library for the resurrection. Strange, my early memories all seem to look just like my parents 8mm's |

I saw this guitar being used. Now it's behind glass. Can you guess who owned it? Do you care? Too many people wanted to see britney spears' school girl skirt over this guitar. I suppose there are two different personality types there. If there was a vacation that I need a vacation after it would be Las Vegas. I went with a bunch of old friends. I am married to a sainted woman that let's me do fun things like this. Our only rule is no hookers. And really - shouldn't that be a rule in every marriage.

If you want to goto Mars and don't know that guy that owns Virgin - goto Las Vegas! And don't go on that statosphere rollercoaster......You'll regret it. It also helps to take things with a grain of silicone. This is a big country. I need to get out more.

I had no inna net connection really for the last three days. It was tough. I had to talk to people. It was nice to hit the road (sky) and see my NJ friends out west. But still I had thoughts of MOL for some reason. I am haunted by MOL like Mr. York was the witch. So. Um. Here I am typing..... The best thing for my single friends was that they were able to say they came from New Jersey to see Bon Jovi in Las Vegas. Sure - we didn't plan for this band to be playing when we got there....but secretly when we got there and heard about this show.....I was like all ooooo oooo living on a prayer hey I want to go on that things they use in that video when they fly over the crowd.... I head to Las Vegas about once a year to meet up with some friends from NJ that have moved to various places out west. Been meeting up with these guys for about ten years out there. This year we stayed at the hard rock. A wild place. very much the scene. not my scene - but it is a whole production. Look at this woman. There is an unearthly calm about her. If I was in a situation where things were really going down I'd want her around. |

Hey Buzz.. If I am not mistaken thats one of Pete T.'s guitars. He had numbers on lots of them as I recall. I don't remember what he played the first time I saw the WHO but it was in 82 cause the first show I was to go to was cancelled cause of the Cincinatti catastrophe. Sad, isnt it, that his guitar is housed in the very hotel his best friend died in. |

Music- the thought of the skulls doesn't bother me. That pic for some reason is particularly haunting. When you wander thru the miles of stacked skulls, are there miles of stacked souls? Buzz- I don't think I would want her around. She looks like the Angel of Death, badly dressed. Either that or she took lots of valium when the plane started spiraling downwards. I hate Vegas - the people look very sad and desparate to me. Sitting at the slots, pouring in quarters. You can see it written on their faces "maybe this time, I'll get the rent money". Of course, if you are the mild-mannered, mid-level sales manager from Iowa who gets to stay at the Venetian, dress in black leather and studs, and put your girlfriend on a leash in spike heels, plunging neckline, flashing nipples, with all the $1 drinks at Harrah's, I guess I could see the appeal. Maybe. Not. |

Duncan - yeah, that is Pete's. It's really weird John died there. I was talking to one of the casino hosts there. He said that John was hanging out in good spirits and then later in the night became one. They have all kinds of rock and roll history there. The one thing I could not photograph was a piece of the plane that Otis Redding died in. It was kinda morbid to me. It was right near the entrance to the pool. A festive place. Greene- I can see why you hate vegas. I don't love it. I love the friends I see there. That's what it is to me. The hotel I was at - no one really gambles. It's more for the Hollywood playaz. Though I did pop into some shithole casino and it made me kind of depressed. Atlantic City to me is hell on earth. I mean you see these people hooked up to the O2 tank and plunking in money dazed. Look. This was the view from my window at one point. You know. In the past I have made fun of Bon Jovi several times. But. I must say. They sounded good. Ish.
