Happy birthday Buzzsaw, and congratulations on becoming a daddy again.

BTW, #5 of the 10 important things you have learned is a good one! My husband did that to a co-worker of mine a long time ago, who, of course, wasn't pregnant! She was very gracious, but I couldn't decide whether to strangle him right then and there, or to crawl in to a hole and pull it in after me!

Thanks sparkleb and meandtheboys!

I have two things to report:

1) I fell asleep at the Bruce Springsteen show last night. This show was not for me - except maybe the river on the piano. I am not saying it was bad, some of it was amazing to me - it was just quiet and I was really tired. Work has really been tough. What is the accent Bruce has? That's not any Jersey accent I've ever heard. More like Roy Orbison + Woody Guthrie.

2) Revenge of the Sith was so amazing. The crowd today at the noon showing was all pro. People ditching work to see it. Not for kids. I will see it again. The part when Harrison Ford shows up is AMAZING....i kid i kid.

Belated birthday greetings, buzzsaw! MHRTTD. You share a birthday with a dear friend I met on Compuserve on that ol' Grateful Dead section. We've now been friends for 11 years, and that just seems unbelievable to me.

Four full-timers at work took Thursday off. Guess the reason.

Dave. Cool. More news to follow. I wish I was that tree today.

Musicme. My cousin and I used to do that. What were we thinking?

Bets. Were you one of the four?

Life is too short to get upset about small things. BUT. It drives me nuts when people call Donald Trump "the donald". Though - many things drive me nuts about him. But...."the donald"? I'd rather call him Jacko. Where did that come from?Jacko. Granted MJ is NUTS and he needs a nutty name. There has got to be something better than Jacko. Like, Sir Kids-a-lot.

POST SCRIPT. Musicme - when I say "my cousin and I used to do that" I was talking about the fingers thing. The second link was like something I used to do in college.

No, I was present at work on Thursday. And not among the three that went to the midnight showing and didn't take Thursday off.

I would've taken Thursday off if this was happening Wednesday night:

I find that I slack off the best when I have something really important and time sensitive to do. Right now I am slacking off in a top shelf kind of way. We're talking spending more time dusting off my desk than working on this project that is due by the end of this day. I might even nap - at my desk - with feet on the desk.

I'll be honest. My heart is not 100% into the grind lately. Well, it never was 100% - I'd say the peak was about 88%. I am at about 70% right now. Anthing less than 70% is dangerous for me. When I got really bored with my last job I started to come in dressed in my p.j's

I have a job that to many people sounds really cool. I know there are many many people getting out of art school or some fancy school that would love my position. I love this company. Thing is - it's my job to give other people ideas and I am running out of ideas for myself. Without ideas, I am just a fancy coat rack.

I want to be a history teacher. I have to work on that. As you may know, I have some life changing events going on that I could get through a lot easier without a job change.

Did you ever see that movie "sid and nancy"? Rememner the guy on the bus singing to jonny rotten...."I want a job I want a job I want a real job....one that satisfies my artisitc needs". The guy was some nerdy roadie type trying to write a punk song. Poor bastard.

Buzz..first belated birthday salutations!
And for your ten things learned list. #9 immediately made me think of this lyric.

"aluminum tastes like fear"

write me a 10 page, funny, screenplay if you are feeling the need to create. You write well, clearly and I am looking.

Buzz
I've got plenty of ideas. Some say too many. If you want to do some brainstorming, just ask.

OK. I just finished draft#1. Looks like there will be a #2. If there is a #3 it won't be as good as #2. I know this.

Duncan: I was thinking of that when I wrote that list. It does taste like fear. How does Stipe know this? I must say I do have some story ideas I have wanted to expand on. None of them are about vampires, WWII or old tv shows! I will PL you when I get to sifting through them. I'll give you a one line pitch for a few of them and you can tell me which ones you are most interested in, if any. I had to write a few tv treatments in school. I am not an expert on format.

Musicme: Hey! Thanks for the offer. That is really cool. (You might regret it.) My spider senses tell me you must be in the music world. I will be the one yelling freebird at MaplewoodstockII. Or the one saying "if you think really hard, maybe we can stop this rain. NO RAIN NO RAIN NO RAIN". Or something like that.

Thing is. I have ideas for the people who expect me to give ideas to them. It's my job. But, then I get home and I am the pizza maker that can't eat pizza at home. But then again, there are many kinds of pizza - chicago style, thin crust, bar pies, pizza rustica, frozen pizza, pizza bagels....and don't get me started on the toppings.

I remember being told that you couldn't start a sentence with the word "and". And I never understood why.

I'm beginning to think I'm a split personality posting as buzzsaw in a really cool blog. Or maybe it's just a dream.

One difference. My focus at work has become honed to a razorsharp view in which I see all that needs to be done and am planning how to fix it. Since I'm enduring a recent life-changing experience as well (quite different from yours, I think), it feels as if my mind has been set free from worrying about something completely out of my control and is allowed to be mine again.

Sorry to get so weird, but I'm not used to this yet.

Bets: not weird. the tooth will set you free. it sounds like you have reached that moment in the matrix when mr anderson sees everything as binary code.

Duncan: That looks like the leaf I turned over. I have reached a popeye kind of state here at the jobby job. I yam what I yam. I am going to ride this car till the wheels fall off. Then I'll get my dream job in NJ. I wonder if the keebler elves are hiring.
