My vote: The 1/5/06 2:42 arrangement. Could be a page from "Domino." Looks fabulous. |

Thanks Breal & Red. Breal, that's the way it is now— (with the clutter gone & my mantle slightly rearranged) with the credenza moved you can actually walk through. Unfortunately the cat realized she does like sitting on the white furniture. |

Ok, indulge me please. Might have an oil tank leakage issue, so I'm peeved. Was in HomeGoods today getting a gift and found this mirror. I love mirrors, I love stars, I had to have it. I just propped it on the mantle, but will have to hang it I think, to center it in the space. What do you all think? (I left the price tag on it in case I need to return it.) I aslo got very simple roman shades. I think they're perfect, clean, simple. I may or may not hang rods above with decorative sheers of some kind. Here are the photos (taken from the steps, that's the railing).

Ya think it works? I like how it plays off the hanging star fixture in the hall. |

Oh I love you guys. Thanks. I'm sure my husband will agree, and if not, too bad! Perhaps I will hang some of the other mirrors elsewhere in the room. Or not. Want to keep it kind of bare. |

love it - I didn't even read what you posted at first & just saw the mirror & thought that I would post that I think it's great - unusual. Kudos on a great find! |

I don't think the gold mirrors that were there will go in the room now. put them somewhere else |

Nice mirror. Looks beautiful. Hang it up! Now the search begins for a couple of fantastic candle sconces to flank it? Or not. |

Pippi, That's cause you hate all my gold mirrors! I might agree though, just to not make the room too fussy. This one has a gold frame as well, but with sort of black iron distressed balls on the edges. I was thinking, if it bothered me, I could always take a silver paint pen and add some to tone down the black, but I think it works ok. We do have some antique brass in the room, and I don't mind the combo. DM, Homegoods had a couple, so it's not SO different, but it was "cost effective" and I liked the style. Works for me! |

Actually, Me&, those gold things on the mantle (next to all my pewter balls) can be turned upside down, and hung on the wall to hold pillar candles. I was thinking that as I propped the mirror up. My cousin jimmy (www.jimmydiresta.com) made them and this gold framed mirror I have that has plaster versions of his hands holding it. The coolest thing is, his dad and my dad are first cousins and he somehow jimmy's hands remind me of my dad's. |

See, there ya go. Bet they'd pretty cool hung on the wall. Go do it, put some candles in them and take a picture--quick! BTW, if I might hijack your thread for a second, I have a cute story to share (or at least I think it's cute). Leaving the house the other day with child #3, and he sees your children, #1 & #2, walking home from school (like big girls all by themselves!) He says to me, "wook fwends" (Interpretation: Look, Friends)! Then he yells across the street, "hi, fwends!" They were very sweet and said hi back. Now, back to our regularly scheduled decorating dilemmas and solutions! |

Oh, that's cute. My little one calls you guys "Buster's family." I don't think I have pillar candles here, but will get some. But I need my husband to help hang it all up. The mirror is heavy! Plus, we'll need to anchor it, and it's the fireplace wall so this might be more of a project than one might think. |

VIG-mirror is wonderful...the room is really taking on a wonderful life...also like the roman shades....the gold things on either side might really do the trick... What a great trip this has been watching this room come together! Thanks for the ride!!! :-) |

Wow BGS, thank you so much. I'm the type of person that nothing is ever done. I don't know why, but I'm always changing things. The opposite of my mom in that respect. It's been fun posting all my updates and making an online scrapbook...I'm pitiful at doing it on paper so it's been a lot of fun for me. |

Well, Mr. Vig got home from a meeting late and is kind of upset about the oil tank situation, so he didn't even notice the mirror. His biggest complaint is what to do with all the other mirrors. He did like the way it looked, but he said he liked the other mirrors just fine. He just doesn't want a box full of mirrors in the attic. I will make a nice grouping on a wall somewhere, and it will be just fine.

VIG- two male friends of ours who were notorious decorators had the stair way wall covered in every sort of mirror. It was awesome...I often wished that I had a collection of framed mirrors to do that with.

This is bizarre. For a few weeks, every so often, we hear this loud "pop" in the living room. I would run in and not see anything. My husband said he thought maybe the mirrors were "popping" off the frame. So, coincidentally, I'm in there right now and "POP." A split second later, the lower right mirror falls off the frame and knocked one of those pewter balls on the floor. (Neither thing broke, other than the mirror falling off.) There are a dozen or so spots of adhesive that obviously didn't work very well! Luckily I still have the receipt...hopefully the store will take it back! Maybe I will convince my husband to help me bring it back tonight. My husband just walked in and said "bad news!" I don't need any more bad luck these days...back to the store it goes! |

Well, of course that entered my mind, but the way it's cracked it looks like it was pushed too hard. (Mirror forensics, I googled it.) Seriously, the mirror that's cracked is totally attached. Since that happened I have been feeling the mirrors to see if any of them was loose. This one felt kind of loose, of course I didn't think it would fall right off. So, no, I do think it was cracked by sheer brute Windex force. |
