On Saturday, May 20th, 2006 from 11am to 4pm, the Montrose Park Historic District Association (MPHDA) invites visitors for the 11th “Montrose in May” Historic House Tour. Montrose Park, a 150-acre historic district located in South Orange, features a variety of homes that represent classic turn-of-the-century architectural styles including Victorian, Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, Tudor and Shingle Style homes. Participating venues will be open to the public from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and a jitney will be available to transport visitors through the district. Several tour homes will feature entertainment.

Tickets for Montrose in May can be purchased beginning in early May, 2006 for $25 per person at various retail outlets in South Orange and Maplewood, or on line at www.MontroseParkSONJ.org. The tour is self-guided, runs rain or shine, and all tour-goers must pick up their tour brochure, map and ticket at historic Mountain Station located at the intersection of Montrose and Vose Avenues. Tickets sold on the day of the tour are $30. For further information, visit the MPHDA website or call at 973-763-1880.

Montrose Park was designated as an historic district in 1997 and is now listed on both the State of New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places. The Montrose Park Historic District Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Funds raised contribute to the continued beautification of the district, preservation of the community's historic essence and the development of programs that encourage residents maintain and preserve their unique homes.
