At the request of Steve Weintraub, here are two articles from American School and University. These were previously cut up and posted in bits, or just pictures from these, or not at all. They cover landscaping in general featuring Maplewood/SO schools, a general article on Maplewood/SO schools written by the architect, and an old advertisement showing CHS by the manufacturers of CHS's swimming pool. In adobe this time.

To add to the fun, I have a series of photographs I took today on a research trip to SO/M; pictures of Columbia, Montrose, Jefferson and the BOE Maintenance building. The captions are self explanatory.

Despite the lousy condition of the schools, while in the BOE Office today I saw engineering plans of some of the schools, which are currently undergoing restorative exterior work. It's a start...

Also, I'll add this to the online collection, plans and a period photo of South Mountain, which are very scarce. It's from the May 1932 issue of "Architecture". Note the cars that are actually parked on South Orange Avenue :-)
