All -

If you've lurked this board for any amount of time, you may have noticed a number of posts between "extuscan" and myself discussing old photographs, plans and memorabilia regarding the schools of the towns, particularly CHS.

I've taken this research to a whole new level of obsession, centering on the architect himself, James O. Betelle. He was somewhat famous (as far as architects go) in his day, and his life and career are quite fascinating; and yet, he is all but forgotten now. I hope to change that.

To keep track of my detective work and to share it with those interested, I've set up a website called "James Betelle, Where Are You?" (sing it like the tune of "Car 54, Where Are You?"). I post something new every few days (I have lots backlog material), and I've set the categories up so you can go right to the South Orange and Maplewood specific items if you wish.

The direct url is http://jamesbetelle.wordpress.com
I hope you enjoy it.

Steve

Steve,
Thank you. Your work is appreciated -- at least by me and I am sure by many others.

My latest post should be of interest: a series of photographs showing Columbia High School under construction. I didn't post all of them in the article, there are a few others at my flickr site linked in it. Enjoy.
