Hi -- I'm trying to find out how and why the Turnover Sale was begun and named? Do you have knowledge of this? Thanks! Marcia |

Are you asking about the Turnover Sale at Morrow Church in July? Just go into the office and ask. If the Prospect Church one, do the same. |

The Turnover Sale is at Morrow during the month of July. I assume that the name is related to the turning over of merchandise from seller to buyer. (Based on my experience at the Prospect Rummage sale, that cycle continues in some cases to another buyer and to another buyer as items are later donated back to be sold again. A phenomenon particularly popular with baby clothes, but observable in other categories, also.) From time to time at Prospect we have discussed a catchy name for our Rummage Sale, held in early September, but we haven't come up with one so far. Any suggestions out there? |

I would assume it is called turnover, since the merchandise is changing hands. I would just call the church and ask. I know it's 70some years and counting. It's SUCH a great sale!! I have been going since I was a little kid. |

There's an article about it in the latest Matters Magazine. See the article on-line at: http://www.maplewoodonline.com/matters/rummage/ (And now I wonder, Silkcity are you the Marcia who wrote the article? Lovely piece.) |
