They are a little secretive about it a the Memorial Library, but the Durand Room has some really neat Maplewood History items. I went ahead and scanned thier collection of CHS pictures--not many :-( I'll try CHS itself this week.
CHS 1930

This shows CHS in 1930, 3 years after it was completed. Nice hedge! Notice the two lamp posts by the end of the driveway... One post remains and now has it's third head, another was uprooted and replaced with something completely different. These were nice because they matched the shape of the flagpole base.

This is another 1930's picture and shows that private-school hedge...

This picture is from 1971. The lamppost has head #2 which lasted for as long as I remember. It has since been replaced with one of the halogen tube shop light lookin' things. The hedge is gone... but the school still has those great thin-mutton windows without screens on them. Now that I look the shape of the lamppost is only vaguely similiar to the flag pole ;)

And this is the big scary addition! It sure looks a lot bigger in this picture than it does in person... now hidden by mature trees.
