The Darcy School, an coed independent school in Chatham, New Jersey, seeks a part-time art teacher (the equivalent of two full days per week) for the 2006-2007 academic year. Founded in 1998, the current enrollment is 120 students in grades preschool through sixth, and plans call for the school to grow to 240 students in preschool through grade eight. The art teacher will instruct students in painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and ceramics. The teacher will demonstrate the use of a variety of age-appropriate art materials and tools such as oils, watercolors, palettes, brushes, palette knives, pen, pencil, dyes, clay, fabric, canvas and paper. The teacher will inspire students and assist them in developing creativity and self-expression through various art forms and media, and will arrange for exhibitions of student work in and out of school. Ideal candidates will possess an interest, ability, and experience in art and teaching, enthusiasm, patience, and tact, excellent communication skills, a commitment to ongoing personal/professional development, high-level creative and organizational skills, and a passion for working with students.
