My husband is looking to make a career change and has a passion for landscape design. Does anyone have any insight on how one might make the shift without 5 years of landscape architecture school? All our neighbors love his work and always ask if he will advise them. He's interested in making it a career! Can anyone suggest someone in the business around here that he could speak to for information? Any input would be appreciated. He has been a fashion photographer for about 10 years.

I don't know of any other way at his apparent age and marital status to make a career change than to start it on a part time basis. It's the way I did it 47 years ago... Dropping everything to go back to school is not realistic... FWIW, I have a flair for landscape design myself, but I know only enough to be dangerous. I would love to get together with your husband and talk about what’s possible… PL me or call 973-699-8276 Art |

Elizabeth, I know someone who did this 2 year program at the NY Botanical Garden: http://www.nybg.org/edu/soph/overview.php#OVERVIEW He seemed to think it was a good program (about 5 years ago). I am no longer in touch with him so unfortunately I can't give you his contact info. |

Seveal years ago my brother took some classes at Rutgers in New Brunswick on Landscape design. He did not get his License. A friend of mine owns a very large Landscape Design Compnay. Check out thier website at www.melilloandbauer.com
