Hi, Jackie,

Good idea, and very nice of you to offer. I wasn't clear from your post, though: Is this group for professional writers and editors, or is it for people who want to write or do writing on the side? Or both?

Also, I don't know if you want to open this up to the board at large, but I think there are quite a number of writers, editors, publicists etc. who might be interested.

Thanks again.

Oh Boy: Confusion is abroad in the land. Yes indeed, The 29th is a Wednesday. My apologies for the error! That's what comes of trying to do 14 things at once. The date for our rapidly growing get-together is WEDNESDAY, JAN. 29TH. And here's the notice again: "I am a local publicist and writer. So many of us live in Maplewood and South Orange. Let's get together and meet one another to network. Come for tea or a glass of wine, Wednesday, January 29 at 7p.m. RSVP via email or call 973-763-7555." And Deborah - yes, this evening is specifically for professional writers and editors. Thanks for making that point.

UPDATE - Well, we're getting a great response! But people have been calling or sending their RSVP's privately and they're not showing up on this board. If you have been following this notice with interest and have not seen any action - we're rolling right along and an interesting group is forming. And - if you are a professional writer, publicist, editor - or are in a related field and want to meet and greet on Wednesday, January 29 at 7p.m., come join in. RSVP via email or give a call 973-763-7555. Best - JH

Jackie

Kudos on hosting such a great gathering of writers, editors, publicists, literary agents, writing coaches, freelancers, et al. You pulled together a dozen like souls from the two towns (and beyond) for three hours of self introductions, networking, and fun! The food and drink was much appreciated. It was cozy sitting around the fireplace. I think that some permanent connections have been made. Hope we can all do it again sometime.

I'm so sorry I missed that evening in January. (I've been off the MOL wagon, but I'm back on, esp. with a migraine keeping me awake tonight) Sounds great. Has it been repeated? Would anyone have interest for a future get-together? I'd really like to attend an evening like that.

I also missed the January posting -- I'm not very consistent about checking -- and would be interested in a second meeting. I'll email Jackie and see if there's been any follow up or whether there's much interest in a second gathering.

I've been in touch via email with Jackie, gotten the email list of the group (there was interest in having another get together) and when I figure out an evening that will work, I'll host and send out an email.

Alia, looks like you're on the email list already. Marinab, privateline me your email and I'll put you on the list. Likewise to any lurkers who want to be invited and weren't at the meeting.

Nancy

I'm a professional editor between gigs (as a stay-at-home mom!), but will be looking for full-time work in the fall. I've worked at both consumer and trade magazines for about 13 years. Anyway, I would love to join the group for fun and networking alike. Since I missed the July meeting, any chance of another one any time soon?

This seems like a good time to ask: Are any of you looking for small groups or writing partners? I'm putting together several small writing circles based on genre. I have space for a couple of people in a daytime group of writers for children. The Fiction group is full, but I would be happy to start a second if there was interest. These people are all serious writers and are looking for some feedback from peers (and sometimes a deadline). If you are interested, please call or email Becky at 973-762-1688, rraines@maplewoodlibrary.org

I just started using this message board and saw the thread about Jackie's group. Does it still meet? I'm a freelance magazine writer and book editor, and I'd love to meet other media folks in M/SO.
