Woodstock: Just curious. Why are you limiting this job offer to mothers/grandmothers? Sounds like it might be a good opportunity for a high school or college student and they are far more apt to be available on weekends and to have the requisite computer skills needed. |

Joan, While the job opportunity is not strictly limited to mothers/grandmothers, the reason my wife is looking for this demographic is twofold. First, the job is not only weekends, but includes weekedays as well. Most students - high school and college - are not available from 10am-3pm as migh be needed during the week. Second, part of the reason people come to the store, and particularly to my wife, is the advice they can get from a mother. The store is a baby store. Many customers are first-time mothers. What distinguishes my wife's store from Baby's R Us and Buy Buy Baby is that usually the person on the floor is a mother herself, not a teenager with no (or minimal) practical parenting experience. There are two students that work at the store currently. They are great. But my wife needs someone who give that motherly advice when she's not there Waiting For The Electrician, Or Someone Like Him |

Duncan, Dads are welcome too. As long as they are comfortable talking about and selling baby clothing to pregnant and new mothers, people looking for presents and sizing information. They will also need to be able to give advice about breast feeding and pumping, hormonal changes after pregnancy, and mild post partum depression. The reason my wife is/was looking for a woman is because pregnant women and new mothers tend to be more comfortable talking with someone who has been through the whole experience. My wife routinely answers questions about the above topics, as well as things like how to find a comfortable and properly sized nursing bra, what the delivery was like, as well as more sensitive things like how various OBs in the area handle trouble during pregnancy and severe post partum depression.
