I'm 18 years old, and looking for a Summer Job. I'm quick to learn things, and I have a pretty good skill set already. I'm leaving my consulting business because I want a job where I can leave, and it won't follow me home, or on dates, or late at night, or at ungodly hours in the weekend. Here's my resume`: http://www.myauntishot.com/resume.html Yes, I'm good at computers. Am I looking for a computer job? I don't know. I know that I'm not looking to do the consultant thing anymore though. -Josh |

Josh-- You're young, but it would help present a more "professional" aura about you if your website wasn't called "my aunt is hot" and the word "gangsta" didn't appear prominently above your resume... |

I'm not really too worried about looking professional. I like to let my resume` speak for itself. Obviously my website is parody, and I'm not actually a gangsta. -Josh |

Brian: Probably. Josh: The parody thing is fine if you want to make a social statement but it doesn't go over so well with most potential employers. If you do decide to edit your resume, you should consider dropping the "I am 18" bit and aim for a more mature look. Ask you clients if you can use any of them as references and print the reference contact information on line. The "FBI Agent" may not want to be identified but Deanne may be willing to give you a reference and so may the people you worked with at the high school and the library. It also helps to give more information regarding dates and duration of employment and a synopsis of what you have done in your jobs to date rather than just a list of your skills accomplishments. Keep in mind that mid-June is rather late to begin looking for a summer job, especially when you will be going away to school out of state in a few months. Therefore, you should try being a bit more pro-active in your job search. Network. Ask people you know for job leads. Finally, don't go around telling people you have decided to stop doing consulting work until you have landed something else. Good luck. Let us know what you turn up. |

I updated my resume a little. It's more thorough now. I'm not sure if it's better. -Josh |
