What is a Therapeutic Play Specialist? Is it related to a psychotherapist who does play therapy with children?

What does DIR-trained mean? And what is Floor Time experience?

Hello:

Thanks for your interest. It is related to a psychotherapist who does play therapy with children-although not quite the same thing.

For a really good explanation of the DIR approach please click on this link, which is the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders.

http://www.icdl.com/

From the ICDL web site:

Purpose and Goals
The Interdisciplinary Council includes outstanding professionals from the different disciplines working with children and families where there are developmental and/or learning problems. Its aim is to improve the identification, prevention and treatment of developmental and learning disorders.

I am currently in the DIR Certificate process and have several years of practical experience doing Floortime which is an important component of the DIR Model.

I hope this is helpful
