I'm beginning to look into relocating back to Delaware. If any of you work for financial services companies with Delaware operations' opportunities, please let me know. Or, if you know really effective headhunter types who service Delaware, let me know. Roughly, I'm an eBusiness/eCommerce VP in a corporate cost/service center. Occupy that fun place between the profit centers and ecommerce IT. Now, manage implementation of Search, Metrics and Content Mgt applications for profit center web sites. Not so much the hard core IT piece, but the why to to do it, how to do it, ROI and how to make it so angle. Previous at same firm: managed PMs, BAs, IAs, IT to get sites and online apps spec'ed, designed, built. Have MBA. Have been with major insurance/financial services company (NY) for 6 years. Previously, 12 years at a university in similar. Previous to that, 7+ years in various forms of educational/media publishing, in NYC. Very, very flexible on the industry type. Have worked in publishing, IT, media services, etc. Fine with non-profit (worked at a university previously). Could go pharma or other -- just trying to sell on my capabilities and experience. Currently manage 6 FTE managers and assorted junior people. Not looking for monster bucks. Profoundly not looking for consulting gig. Yes, I know all about dice.com etc. Looking for inroads here, or insider info on what may be opening up in Delaware offices. Must be Delaware -- not Philly, Baltimore, etc. Lots of banks, credit cards, financial services there so imagining some of you may know of same. Thanks for any possible concrete help! |

Cynical -- I have a few contacts at a really interesting website called KidsHealth.org, a nonprofit kids health information site run out of duPont Medical Center in Wilmington. Send me an email at joelscorp@gmail.com if interested. |

Hey, Joel...I actually had brought my daughter to AI once, to have a "stridor" diagnosed. It's a wonderful children's hospital. Too, many moons ago, my husband did some cartoon animal graphics for them to decorate halls. Small world! |

Nationwide's operations center outside Newark, DE (home of the U. of Delaware) has been looking for some experienced people to run various ops areas. You'd probably want to check with Nationwide corporate in Columbus, especially for the Life and personal lines sides. Rumour has it that there's been a lot of turnover recently. You could always check out DuPont, the major employer in the state. In addition, there are private foundations, organizations, museums, such as Winterthur, etc. I wouldn't overlook U of D--- a growing university, well-funded, with needs for infrastructure talent as well as teaching and research talent--- as a place to help get you started and into a network you can use to branch out later on. |

Hey, Innisowen...I worked at UD for 12 years (until 6 years ago). They laid me off (and a bunch of mid-level professional staff). I've remade contact with some old friends at AstraZeneca and related. Nationwide's a good thought... |

I taught at UD a long time ago. I have had a number of clients (FS institutions) with ops in DE. MBNA also comes to mind, as does Wilmington Trust. Good luck. |
