Hi,
I'm a doula - I provide labor support to those wanting to have the best possible birth experience. I also do belly casting to preserve those belly memories!
If you are interested in discussing my services, please call me at 973-762-2529 or email me at doulamomma1@hotmail.com

Best,
Kim

Wow! You do casting. I think that's neat.

Are doulas welcomed in our area hospitals?

I'm asking because I am trying to become pregnant and I truly believe that if I had better birthing support I could have avoided a c-section with my first delivery. It seemed to me that the section was done because the staff was tired of waiting for me to deliver.

Hi Greeneyes & Mem:
Nope, no belly dancing (yet!) - however, I do know a comfort measure called the "doula hula"!
The casting is lots of fun & they can be quite beautiful.
Re. trying to get preg., have you read "Taking Charge Of Your Fertility" by Weshler (sp?) - great info.
Sadly (or happily, for next time!), so many c-sections can be avoided with the right support. Most area hospitals do welcome doulas - though I'm sure there will always be hold-outs who don't like the "intrusion", I think doulas are really becoming an accepted part of the birth team. That said, it makes all the difference to find providers (midwives or doctors) who share a desire to avaoid c-sections and other interventions not needed in many situations.
Let me know if you need any info & good luck!

We worked with a doula for both labor and post-partum. Highly highly recommended! Forget the baby-nanny thing.

Thanks for the thumbs up Barleyrooty - my personal experience was the same - made all the difference with both my births & postpartums.
