Can anyone recommend favorites in New Brunswick? I'm looking for good, interesting food, in a place less fancy than Frog & Peach. Thanks in advance.

There's a wonderful Mongolian place just next to the bookstore. I forgot the name, but it's a delicious buffet style where you choose your food, then they cook it on a giant wok.

They moved. It's called the Round Grill and they are at Ferren Mall on Rt. 27 in New Brunswick.
It's fun.

Wasn't that yet another branch of JP Lees?

Makeda, wonderful Ethiopian place around the corner from the State Theater. Ethiopian food, European desserts, a full bar, and a very nice African crafts store attached.

We go out of our way to stop there a few times a year.

Harvest Moon brewpub has great food even if your not a beer fan. If you do like good beer, it's an added bonus. Check out their menus here:

A second for Makeda. The owners are friends of our family. It's a wonderful experience - especially if you've never tried that type of cuisine.

The Frog and The Peach is one of my favoriite resturants. We were ther for dinner on Saturday I had the Pine Crusted lamb Loin, my husband had the tenderloin and the kids had the grilled shrimp. The food and service is always exceptional. They are at 29 Dennis Street, New Brunswick. www.frogand peach.com

Old Man Rafferty's - (on Albany Street, corner Albany and George) Good sandwiches, salads and meals. Service is great. Very crowded, especially on weekends.

Soho (on George Street) - More upscale, food and service are great. Probably need reservations.

Clyde's (on Paterson Street, across from courthouse) - Martini bar with very interesting food menu. I once saw reindeer on the menu.

Tumulty's Pub (on George Street) - English pub, great steaks and burgers, fun relaxed atmosphere.

Nova Terra (on Albany Street, across from J&J building) - Great Cuban cuisine, great mojitos and does rodizio on Wednesday nights. Not as fancy as the Frog & Peach, but still upscale.

Panico's (on Church Street, across from parking deck) - Italian, upscale, fancy. I have never been so I cannot comment on food or service.

Gaebel's (next to Panico's) - Has steak and sushi on the menu, very electic. Food is good, not fancy. Great bar.

Old Bay - (Down the street from Gaebel's, across from Hyatt, corner of Church and Neilsen) - Great seafood, fun bar, relaxed atmosphere. Has alligator balls on the menu.

There are many more, but those are the ones I could think of off the top of my head. PL for me for more information.

Clyde's all the way, with the Old Bay a second.
