Anyone have any suggestions of a place to order bak kwa (BBQ pork from Singapore) via mail order? or a local place to purchase it. I tried Bee Cheng Hsing (www.bch.com.sg ) but they have closed their online ordering for the Lunar New Year.

BTW, Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Year of the Dog!

I think you can get them in NY Chinatown around Mott/Mulberry south of Canal. But they're not as good as the ones from Singapore with the singed edges... yum.

Thanks Dude.. I'm not willing or able to get into NYC for it. I was thinking more like a local Asian market. I guess I will have to wait for hubby to return from Singapore..<g> and hope the customs dogs don't sniff out the bak kwa in his luggage!

They vacuum seal it nowadays pretty well for easy transportation. Know of people who've had no problems bringing it in. In the grand scheme of things... it's no different than beef jerkies since it's just smoked dried beef slices anyways.
