Yes. I know he is involved in a new place in Millburn , but do not know the details. I heard it should be opening in the spring. He is one of the best around and also a jersey boy.

While driving thru Millburn today I noticed some demolition work being done on that empty building just before Footnotes - I wonder if it's there?
(what a way to start a rumor)

Eliz, would the building that you are referring to be the old Investor Savings building with green awnings? It is technically an office building, but would be a great restaurant because it has its own parking lot.

There is supposedly a(nother) Japanese restaurant opening across from the train station in the old Muffin store. That building has a small parking lot as well.

If I recall correctly, I think it was Jesse at Heart and Soul who mentioned to me that David Burke was involved with a new place in Millburn. This was a few months ago. At the time, he didn't know where it was going to be located.

Investor Savings used to be the seafood restaurant Sinclair's, which I understand was very good.

Right next to Ling Ling and a few doors down from the French country furniture store Pierre Deux is the location of the former Magnolia's beauty salon. There is a large poster in the window station that there will be a new restaurant 'coming soon' under the auspices of the 'Millburn - Restaurant Group' (whatever that entity is).

The former Sinclairs (near Ginger Taste at the old IHOP location) would be a good place for a new restaurant.

I'm so ignorant about celebrity chefs that I'd never heard of David Burke until I'd read the beginning of this thread!

There's a restaurant opening on Main Street in Millburn across from the now closed ice cream parlor. I'm told by someone that they paid $500,000.00 for a liquor license. Sounds like somethhing David Burke would do. Maybre that's it.

Sweet! First Cafe Monet now another potentially good restaurant in the area.

Sinclaire's....I remember now. It opened in 1996 and they were closed down in 2002 (by order of the sheriff). Here is an old NYT review which isn't great:

http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9B06EFDB143FF934A2575BC0A96195826 0&pagewanted=print

As for the building itself, here is the leasing information sheet:

http://schultznet.com/files/millburn_ave(279).pdf

In regards to the other location being discussed that could possibly have a Burke connection, It is either "Marc Restaurant" or Restaurant.mc

Check it out:

http://www.restaurantmc.com/

Something to look forward to.

I loved Sinclairs , great intresting fish dishes . Tora, Tora Tuna , they were serving Patagonian Toothfish long before it was refered to as Chilian seabass. They had problems with their jerk off landlord , who had his own problems with the Feds.

So much for hoping that 279 Millburn Ave would turn into a restaurant, or even something retail.

It looks as though it has been leased to JP Morgan as alternate offices. They demolished the entire interior this week.

From the Kings Cooking Studio Spring class guide:

Chef Steve Permaul returns to the cooking studio, this time not as David Burke's protege, but as the executive chef of the new restaurant.mc, a dynamic joint venture of David Burke, Steve Permaul and Short Hills native, Marc Cooperman.

Goes on to say that he has worked for David Burke in the Park Avenue Cafes in both NY and Chicago, and at One Sixty Blue in Chicago. Presently holds the position of executive chef for the restaurant.mc in Milburn NJ.
No opening date listed.
Looking forward to it.....

Bingo. Thanks zen.

Now we know what the MC stands for...

Marc Cooperman bought the liquor license in 2003.

Beans - www.restaurantmc.com lists the address as 57 Main Street, Millburn. There's a phone number too... although i haven't called it. (Because i don't know anything about David Burke, other than the fact that he makes bacon in spray form.)
