so, what's the deal w/ these two restaurants? they're always empty?! it seems like it's almost impossible to get a reservation (at least at a decent time) at lorena's, the pub's always busy, the diner seems like it carries a solid diner crowd. don't we need a couple places in between, like the above listed? i've been to both & had good experiences there, actually very good. - anyone have any thoughts on this? am i wrong, are they doing well??? i don't want to lose them & have some cheezy nail salon or something else we don't need to open in their place.

We loved Terra, we had a wonderful anniversary meal there a few months back and while it wasn't empty when we went but it wasn't totally packed either. I hope it's doing well, it certainly deserves it! Can't really speak to Dasti's though, it got not great reviews here on MOL and I was never tempted to give it a try.

Centanni is large enough, you can usually get a table. Sometimes we like to sit up by the bar and enjoy the music and the crowd, other nights we go back by the fireplace for a quiet dinner. Great place.

I've been to D'Asti's a few times and never been disappointed. The food is at least as good as the Trattoria without the noise or the wait and the same price. Also, it's BYOB.

Went to Dastis this weekend was very pleasantly surprised. I LOVE Lorena's, Terra is pretty good, I like Verjus, I liked Celebrated, and I really enjoy Centanni, and am a Trattoria take out junkie, so I'm very familiar w/ Maplewood's restaurants. Dastis has good, and plentiful, food! pasta a la Dasti, or somesuch name, was very good and quite reasonably priced.

Dasti's never impressed me, went four times and it just seemed as though they were flying by the seat of their pants. Terra however just seems, I don't know, Adult.

Terra is fantastic and slowly picking up speed. You should definitely give it a try it is worth your while.

Well, now if these two places go belly-up, you can't blame me...

taam,

I agree with you. I really dig Terra. Pete is wonderful! I asked him to spice up my dish and he obliged with a habanero pepper. He garnished it, especially for me. Definite a chef after my own heart.

Pete, if you're reading this, the habanero rocked, Dude!

I also patronized Dasti's and like it. The only way we can have these restaurants is to get the word out that they're worthwhile!

I think original mediocre/bad reviews for Dastis came partly as withdrawl symptoms from Celebrated. I was disappointed when Celebrated left and wasn't thrilled with the description of "hospital green walls", etc. re: Dasti's. But when we tried Dastis, we really liked it. I had something on the order of veal satimboca....quite tasty, and I even enjoyed leftovers for lunch the next day.
