We are traveling with our three kids this weekend. Don't want to drag ourselves and kids through long term parking. Youngest child must be in car seat in NJ, but we won't need it on the plane or at the other end...

We're looking for a reliable local car service, not too expensive, that would take us to Newark, hold our car seat, and pick us up with the car seat so we don't have to carry it.

Would also need to be a van, there are 5 of us. The last time we got a car service they guaranteed us the car fit driver plus 5, but in actuality there weren't enough seat belts and the guy almost got into three accidents in the first 5 minutes of the ride. Not calling them again. (No, not a local company.)

We've tried this every which way and the easiest by far will be to use your own transport. Either use long-term parking or one of the private parking places which shuttle you to the terminal.

I know, its a pain. We travel for 2 mos every summer and so can't take our car to the airport, but every other time we travel we do and it just works out better than any alternative (unless you can get a friend to drive you there in your car and pick you up at the end).

There is a service, I think it's called We Drive in Livingston that drives you in your car and either drops your car off at home and your keys with a neighbor or through your mail slot into your house (if you have one of those) or picks you up at the airport using your car again. And it's affordable. They are insured for this too. It was great for us because of the car seat factor as well. Then we would rent or borrow them from family/friends at our destination.

Ok, we're back..ended up using Maplewood Taxi out of sheer convenience. Cost $120 total round trip since we needed their one minivan. May go to Lot G next time...lesson learned.

Long term parking for a brief trip is definitely the way to go. We did it for a two night trip to LA in November. Very easy, much cheaper and the shuttle bus comes around very frequently even in the very early morning hours. You also could have had you or your spouse drop off the other with the kids at departures and then parked the car and met up there as well. The money we saved we spent on a convertible upgrade because it was southern Cal after all.
